Compost

Compost is a product made up of organic matter that is rich in nutrients and is used in gardensCompost is a product made up of organic matter that is rich in nutrients and is used in gardens, landscaping, horticulture, and agriculture. Compost itself is beneficial as a soil conditioner, fertilizer, and as a natural pesticide for soil. Compost is the result of  creating a heap of wetted organic matter (leaves, food waste) and waiting for the materials to break down into humus after a period of weeks or months. Modern, methodical composting is a multi-step, closely monitored process with measured inputs of water, air and carbon- and nitrogen-rich materials.

Compost is highly recommended for soil preparation.  It may be the single most important thing you do to ensure the longevity of your lawn.  We recommend 3-5 cubic yards per 1000 sq. ft. tilled into the soil for new sod applications.   Yearly applications of 1 cubic yard per 1000 sq. ft. is recommended for existing lawns.  Best results are right after spring aeration of lawn.

If you’re in the need for compost, contact Gardner Turfgrass today for pricing and details.  Available in West Texas, Southern New Mexico, El Paso and Las Cruces.
